Striving for a Healthy Home

When thinking of our well being many of us think of our health, fitness, and the food we eat. But do we think of the environment that we live and work in? One may think that keeping a clean space would be sufficient, but studies have shown that it is much more than that. Our health and WELLness is affected by the actual products that make up our interior spaces including, furniture, flooring, paint, lighting, and even the products we use to clean them. In addition, the systems we use throughout our homes and offices that provide hot and cold air affect our well being as does the water we use for drinking and bathing.
Experts in the industry of science, medicine, design, construction, and building have spent years researching, practicing, testing our environment and found proven ways to improve our spaces. We, at Partners In Living WELL, are part of this movement by advocating for healthier spaces for our clients and offering a platform which can provide information on the advancement of creating spaces with the well being in mind.
On the average, we spent 90% of our time indoors and in many cases, the levels of VOC (volatile organic compounds) could be five times higher than the outdoors. If you think of the time we spent in our home and at work, much of this time is spent inside. Over the past years, we have unknowingly welcome a host of artificial materials and toxins into our living spaces through paints, furnishings, flooring, while sealing up the interiors with double glazing and airtight draught excluders. To add to the conditions we have often ignore the need for good ventilation to allow fresh air and ability to excess humidity to escape that can lead to damp conditions and mold. Making your home healthier can involve simple remedies, such as opening a window to let in a blast of fresh air, and more lasting solutions, like moving away from paints, furnishings, and cleaning products that throw off chemical vapors.
We have been trained and have passed a very rigorous test and are WELL AP accredited. With that being, we would like to give you some examples of things that we consider and implement in our designs.

We consider many elements when designing spaces our goal is to trigger positive emotional responses and create a healthy and pleasant environment free of health-endangering toxins.
If you are considering a renovating or redecorating your home or office we can help you choose the products that don’t contain VOC, furniture and kitchen cabinets that do not contain formaldehyde or brominated fire retardants. We use construction contractors which focuses on practicing healthy protocols during a renovation. Living in a clean environment is so important to your physical health as well as your overall sense of well-being.
